Black Bough Poetry Christmas-Winter
Volume 5 (2024)
Hardback & paperback versions available
Guest Poet:
Matthew Hollis with an extract from
'The Seafarer'
Welcome once again to the wintry world of the Christmas and winter anthology, our fifth annual anthology!
We're incredibly excited about this work, which features over 40 writers from across the world and is, once again, beautifully illustrated by Gower-artist, Emma Bissonnet.
We welcome esteemed writer Matthew Hollis, former editor of Faber Poetry, Bloodaxe and Hazel Press Poet with two poems, including an extract from his new translation of Anglo Saxon poem The Seafarer.
Curl up by the fire and feast on this work.
We also feature seasonal poems of crisp, chilly autumns descending into the darkness of winter and into the fiery light of festivals. Many of the poems are highly personal and emotional poems delving into childhood, nostalgia, loss and simple human joy.
We hope these are startling imagistic pieces that will take you right there to the moment, given extra charge and resonance with Emma's art work.
We also welcome contributing guest editor, Lesley Curwen, who has done much of the work on the anthology. assisted by Matthew M C Smith, EIC.
Be prepared to be moved, amused and transported by the talent of the Black Bough poets! Time travel, travel across oceans, travel into minds and hearts faster than you can say 'Santa'. An ideal gift for the literary buff and aspirational poet.
